NewFest is New York’s largest presenter of LGBTQ+ film and media, and the largest convener of LGBTQ+ audiences in the city. We interviewed David Hatkoff, whose pronouns are he/him, about NewFest’s work, Pride Month, and how they use Airtable.
Tell us more about NewFest.
NewFest is New York's leading LGBTQ+ film and media organization. We exist to provide a platform for queer stories and queer storytellers, and to gather the LGBTQ+ community in celebration of these stories.
How does your organization use Airtable?
As a small non-profit producing a 12-day festival that features more than 150 films, plus 4-6 events each month throughout the year, there are a lot of moving parts in what we do! Airtable helps us keep track of our programming, fundraising, marketing and operational activity, so that all members of the team have access to the information that they need. This streamlines our workflow and productivity, so that we can keep our focus on our mission and the community we are serving.
What does Pride Month mean to you?
Pride means owning who you are and not being afraid to tell your story. The LGBTQ+ community is incredibly diverse; every single member of the community's story is important, and each individual has a place at NewFest. We believe visibility can change and save lives, and Pride means sharing those stories far and wide.
We are grateful for the support that comes during Pride month, but encourage companies to demonstrate their support for organizations like NewFest, as well as their LGBTQ+ employees, throughout the year. Pride doesn't need to end on June 30; let's celebrate all year round!
